The Coahuilaceratops is a prime example of the popular phrase “The best defense is a good offense.” This species features horns which are believed to be capable of growing to as much as four feet in length.
The species was discovered by paleontologists in southern Mexico only a few years ago and SCGC scientists have been working with the discovery team to extract viable DNA from some of the recovered fossils using a new extraction method since before the species was given an official name. The first successful asset to be created hatched at the beginning of 2012 and will be in the wild by late spring.
To the surprise of researchers, this species is an omnivore however its majority food source remains plant matter.
